The Prince Albert Police Service has arrested a 31-year-old man after multiple assaults and arsons Monday evening.

On November 25, 2024, police were first contacted by the Prince Albert Fire Department (PAFD) at 5:18 p.m. with a report of a vehicle fire in the 600 block of 18th Street West. When officers arrived, they found one vehicle on fire and another with fire damage.

Officers investigated to determine the fire was man-made and were able to obtain a description of the suspect.

Minutes later, police received another report of a male smashing vehicles and attempting to light something on fire in the 900 block of 14th Street West.

The suspect fled the scene prior before police could arrive, but officers found a group of witnesses.

Further investigation revealed that a man started to set another vehicle on fire before being confronted; the man then got in the vehicle and began to drive erratically before he exited the vehicle, lit a gas can on fire, and threw it at a man and woman.

Both the man and woman were able to put out the fire within moments and were treated by paramedics for what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe the same male was the suspect in both incidents. It is also believed the suspect and victims were known to each other. Officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle in the PA Police Service parking lot where a high risk traffic stop was conducted and the male was arrested without further incident.

As A 31-year-old man is facing charges relating to assault with a weapon (x4), arson (x3), and failure to stop at the scene of an accident.
