Leonard back to coaching duties behind Timberjaks bench
A familiar face has returned within the Prince Albert hockey scene as Tim Leonard is back to head coaching, this time at the Junior B level.
Leonard was a longtime figure within the Prince Albert Mintos organization in U18 AAA where he spent 13 years on the coaching staff, ten of which as head coach with two national championships to show for it.
Now, he’s calling the shots for the Prince Albert Timberjaks in the Prairie Junior Hockey League (PJHL) and said it couldn’t be more of a perfect fit for him.
“This summer, [management] approached me and [Ken Malenfant] asked if I would be the head guy,” Leonard recalled. “After doing it for a few months with them last year, the time commitment’s perfect. They don’t have a crazy schedule and they don’t skate every day, so that’s the part I like. It still gives me a good taste of hockey, but not the full-time commitment like in AAA.”
