Prince Albert family celebrates city’s first baby of 2024

Prince Albert’s first baby of 2024 is a girl.

Charlotte Eliza Lavigne was born on New Year’s Day at 12:54 a.m.

She was two days late and weighed in at seven pounds, 13.5 oz. Mother Colby Lavigne told paNOW she knew that when she came to the hospital, having the first baby of the year was a possibility.

“I was hoping she would be born before midnight so I could be done with labour, but once midnight came and went we knew she would be the New Year’s baby. Just under an hour later she was here,” she said.

The family plans to return home today. Colby explained Charlotte’s older brother Louis was especially very excited, and doesn’t want anyone else to hold her.
