Envelope containing disturbing images and skin irritant mailed to N.S. Tory MP

Feb 7, 2022 | 5:50 PM

OTTAWA — A brown envelope containing disturbing images and an apparent skin and eye irritant was mailed to the Barrington, N.S., constituency office of a Nova Scotia Conservative member of Parliament.

Rick Perkins, member for South Shore—St. Margarets, said today that an identical envelope showed up at his second constituency office in Barrington, N.S., but staff didn’t open it.

And Isabelle Lapointe, chief of staff for Conservative member for West Nova Chris d’Entremont, says a third envelope arrived today at his constituency office in Yarmouth, N.S., which wasn’t opened thanks to a warning from Perkins’s staff.

Perkins says an employee of his Barrington office opened the thick envelope to find pages of strange and “disturbing” images.

He says the man’s hands and eyes immediately began to burn and he called 911 to alert the police and then called the neighbouring constituency offices.

Both Perkins and Lapointe say police are investigating and nobody was seriously hurt.
