The Alfred Jenkins Field House is getting a thumbs up when it comes to air quality.

The facility has been recognized by the National Air Filtration Association (NAFA) with a Clean Air Award.

“Alfred Jenkins uses an air filtration system that is on par with an ICU room in a hospital,” Scot Johnson, manager with BGE Indoor Quality Solutions. “The practices that they’ve put in place are pretty much the best that you can implement in a building like theirs.”

The NAFA award is handed out to buildings that can maintain a clean and healthy indoor environment, while reducing operating costs.

Johnson said the facility works hard to provide employees and patrons with a clean-air work environment.

“The building does absolutely everything it can from a filtration standpoint to treat the air that is coming into and returned through the building. It makes for a much better facility, not only to work in but to play in,” Johnson said.

Lynne Schwartzenberger, Alfred Jenkins Field House Recreation Coordinator said in a press release it’s nice to have the recognition.

“The NAFA Clean Air Award gives our members and facility user’s confidence they are breathing the cleanest air possible when they are playing their game or working out,” Schwartzenberger said.

The 2019 NAFA Clean Air Awards were presented to 33 buildings. Six of the 16 of the Canadian facilities that received the award were from Saskatchewan.
