Ahtahkakoop member starts Okanagan’s first Indigenous animation studio
A man originally from Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation has launched what he says is the first Indigenous-owned animation studio in B.C.
Harley Knife has worked as an animator for the past 12 years on shows including Max and Ruby on Treehouse, Pete the Cat on Amazon Prime and Everybody Still Hates Chris on Comedy Central.
This week, he officially launched his own studio, Môhkomân Creative, and is already working on its first projects.
Knife had wanted to start an animation studio for years. After spending a couple of months without work following the end of his contract on Everybody Still Hates Chris, along with changes to B.C.’s film tax credit in 2025, he decided the timing was right.
