Preliminary hearing scheduled for P.A. man accused of killing son

Oct 9, 2019 | 1:58 PM

The court case surrounding a young Prince Albert boy’s death is moving forward with a scheduled preliminary inquiry hearing, which will determine if there’s enough evidence against the boy’s father to require a trial.

Kelvin McCallum, faces a charge of second degree murder in the death of his infant son last March. The boy was initially found unconscious at a downtown apartment, and later died in hospital.

At a hearing Wednesday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court, defence lawyer Gordon Kirkby set March 25 to 27, 2020 as dates for the provincial court hearing.

McCallum, who appeared in court via video from the Provincial Correctional Centre in Prince Albert, did not say anything.
