P.A. man appears in court for toddler death

A man charged in the death of an infant boy last week, who he claims is his son, did not say a word, as his court case was quickly adjourned Tuesday at Prince Albert Provincial Court to a later date.

Kelvin McCallum, 29, is charged with second degree murder. The case will be heard again April 10. McCallum was remanded into custody.

In a conversation with paNOW last week, McCallum identified the boy as his son. At that time no charges had been laid.

Last Wednesday, police responded to the Rivercrest apartment building, where the 21-month-old was reported to be unconscious. The child was transported to hospital and later died.

Members of McCallum’s family, including his father, were in court Tuesday for the hearing but declined to comment.
