Police investigating assault

Prince Albert police are investigating the city’s first murder of 2019.

On Feb. 9 police responded to an assault in the alley of the 200 block of 12th Street East at around 1:15 a.m.

A 27-year-old man who was assaulted later died in a Saskatoon hospital.

While an autopsy is scheduled for next week, the investigation continues between members of the Prince Albert Police Service Criminal Investigations Division and the Forensic Identification Section.

The Office of the Chief Coroner will also help in the investigation.
