FSIN Assembly begins

The FSIN Winter Assembly starts today.

One of the main issues to be addressed could be the removal of the chief.

Chief Guy Lonechild could face a non-confidence vote after pleading guilty to impaired driving charges.

Until now, he has ignored calls for his resignation, but some former chiefs are hoping that will change.

Former chief and current senator Roland Crowe is one of the people calling for Lonechild to step down.

But he said hopes the issue won’t dominate the assembly’s agenda — pointing to more important problems, such as housing.

Lonechild said a confidence test is a real possibility, but that he hopes FSIN chiefs would consider his whole career — and the good that he has done.

In order to be removed as leader, Lonechild would face a hearing by the FSIN. He would need 51 per cent of member nations to support the non-confidence vote.
