Man shot in Saskatoon parking lot

Jun 2, 2015 | 5:09 PM

A man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting in the Giant Tiger parking lot on Avenue F South, just off of 22nd Street West in Saskatoon.

Police were called to the business just after 12 p.m. following reports of a man being shot and taken away.

One woman, who did not want to be identified, said she was sitting outside of the Tim Horton’s across the parking lot when everything unfolded before her eyes.

She said four people in a two-toned SUV entered the parking lot when one man got out and started walking towards another man in the parking lot.

“And I don’t know where the shooter came from but he comes running with this big gun, like a barrel like eight- inches long and at the beginning I thought it was a toy,” the woman said, adding that the victim realized it’s serious and he attempted to get away.

That’s when a single shot rang out.

“Just one shot and the guy went down and he fell down on that speed bump where all the blood is,” the woman said, recalling the horrific vision of the man spewing blood from his mouth.

“The minute he got shot blood came out of his mouth and that mean you got shot in the organ.”

Two other men exited the SUV and put the victim in the car and drove away. Witnesses said the man who fired the shot and a woman fled the scene on foot.

Police said the victim was taken to hospital.

Witnesses at the Friendship Inn, on 20th Street just two blocks south of the shooting, said they saw several police cars pick up a man and a woman close by.

Saskatoon police have not confirmed any arrests at this time.
