Police officer removes graffiti from war memorial
A Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) constable working an overnight shift braved the cold, using his breaks and downtime to scrub off graffiti left on the cenotaph war memorial outside of City Hall early Tuesday morning.
Const. Horace Ratt read a news story about the graffiti on the monument and was disheartened that someone would deface the monument.
“So, I figured it’s a small thing I can do, just to help out in a small way,” he said.
When the war memorial was defaced by a vandal is unknown, but the City of Prince Albert was informed about it last Friday. Staff within the community services department attempted an initial cleanup, but the remnants of the spray painted words “fack sakes” were still visible.
