A milestone worth celebrating

Mont St. Joseph Home: 70 Years Caring for Our Community

Oct 22, 2026 | 10:21 AM

For 70 years, Mont St. Joseph Home has been more than a place to receive care. It has been a home; a place where friendships grow, stories are shared, laughter fills the halls and people continue to find connection, purpose and joy in everyday life.

As Mont St. Joseph Home celebrates 70 Years Caring for Our Community, it’s an opportunity to recognize the Residents who make the Home what it is, the families who remain an important part of their lives, and the dedicated staff and volunteers who help make each day meaningful.

Today, 120 Residents call Mont St. Joseph home. Each brings a lifetime of experiences, memories, relationships and stories. From conversations over a cup of coffee to participating in activities, enjoying time outdoors or simply spending time with friends, the little moments often mean the most.

Life at Mont St. Joseph is about more than care. It’s about creating opportunities for Residents to stay connected to the people and things they love, try new experiences and continue to be part of their community. Special celebrations bring families and friends together, activities encourage laughter and connection, and outings offer opportunities to explore familiar places and make new memories.

The Home’s welcoming, faith-filled environment also makes space for spiritual connection and reflection. Through Spiritual Care and the support of staff, families and volunteers, Residents have opportunities to find comfort, celebrate special moments and feel supported in ways that matter to them.

Behind these everyday experiences is a community of people who care deeply about Mont St. Joseph. Families, volunteers, local businesses, schools, service clubs and community members all play a part in making the Home a special place. Their support helps create an environment where Residents are treated with dignity, kindness and respect, and where the importance of each person’s story is recognized.

The Mont St. Joseph Foundation is one part of that community effort. Through fundraising and donations, the Foundation helps provide equipment, furnishings, programs, staff education and special projects that enhance Residents’ quality of life. From comfortable spaces and engaging activities to the current effort to raise funds for our new Resident Mobility Bus, the Foundation helps make more meaningful experiences possible.

As the Home looks to the future, the new bus is an example of how the needs of Residents continue to guide the work being done. Outings, appointments and visits to places around Prince Albert provide opportunities for connection and enjoyment. This new bus will help Residents continue to experience more of the world beyond the Home’s doors.

Reaching 70 years is a milestone worth celebrating, but it is also a reminder that caring is something built every day; through a helping hand, a shared laugh, a familiar greeting or someone taking the time to listen to a story.

Mont St. Joseph Home’s history is made up of countless moments like these, shared by generations of Residents, families, staff, volunteers and community members. As the Home celebrates 70 Years Caring for Our Community, it honours that history while looking forward to all the moments still to come.

Because a home is about more than a building. It’s about the people who fill it, the connections they share and the community that surrounds them.

And at Mont St. Joseph Home, the caring continues.
