Why are more Prince Albert athletes finding opportunities after high school?
More than 50 Prince Albert athletes have continued their careers beyond high school over the past few years, taking their talents to colleges, universities and even professional teams.
And they’re doing it in more than just hockey.
From volleyball and football to basketball and lacrosse, local athletes are finding opportunities to compete at the next level, something longtime St. Mary High School boys volleyball coach Rene Quintal believes reflects how much the local sports landscape has evolved.
“With the increased opportunities for interprovincial competition to the club sports, we’re really seeing our athletes develop at the same level as athletes in major centres like Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Toronto.”
