With the only record in the WHL that doesn’t have a loss in regulation and having just finished a stretch of eight home games of their last eight, the Prince Albert Raiders are now heading on the road for the next seven games starting with the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Coming into the game, the Raiders still have their 13-game point streak going (10-0-3 record) with a 6-4 win over Moose Jaw on Saturday, and a 3-2 loss in overtime to the Calgary Hitmen. Still, the Raiders’ performance was good enough to move them up a spot to seventh in the CHL Power Rankings.

As for the Lethbridge Hurricanes, last year’s defensive juggernaut of the WHL has now surrendered the most goals in the league (82) and sit last in the Eastern Conference with a record of 4-12-0-1. Most recently, the Hurricanes are coming off a 4-3 overtime win at home on Saturday against the Tri-City Americans, which broke up a four-game losing streak.

Starting with the special teams battle, the Raiders have the third best powerplay in the league at 30.4 per cent so far with 14 goals in 13 games. The Raiders penalty kill is sitting fifth in the league at 85 per cent, but is one of only six teams left to score shorthanded.

As for the Hurricanes, their powerplay is sitting 17th in the league at 17.4 per cent so far this year, and their penalty kill is sitting lower at 19th in the league and 70.5 per cent.

The top spot in scoring for the Raiders has been a revolving door to start the year, but Riley Boychuk currently leads the team with 2G-14A-16P. Aiden Oiring and Brayden Dube are tied for the second spot with 6G-9A-15P and 5G-10A-15P respectively, and Max Heise is in fourth with 9G-4A-13P.

Boychuk also has the longest active point streak this season in the WHL with points in all 13 games. After that Max Heise has 5G-1A in his last four games, and Jonah Sivertson has 2G-1A in his last three, and Ty Meunier has 1G-1A in his last two.

As for the Hurricanes, both Luke Cozens and Shane Smith lead the way with an identical 10G-11A-21P, followed by Logan Wormald with 7G-13A-20P, and rookie Easton Daneault sits fourth with 0G-11A-11P.

The Hurriceans don’t have a point streak longer than two games long. In the last two games, Nathan Maloney has 0G-5A, Shane Smith has 2G-2A, Logan Wormald has 1G-3A, Easton Daneault has 0G-4A, Hudson Kibblewhite has 2G-0A, and Carsen Adair has 2G-0A.

In goal, the Raiders tandem of Michal Orsulak and Dimitri Fortin have each played six games to start the year. It’s likely Orsulak’s turn, who has a record of 4-0-2, a league leading two shutouts, and a 0.910 save percentage. Fortin has a record of 5-0-1, one shutout, and a 0.890 save percentage.

As for the Hurricanes, Koen Cleaver has 12 starts this year with a 3-7-1 record, one shutout, and a 0.867 save percentage. Leif Oaten has made six appearances this year, his record sits at 1-5-0 on the year with a 0.862 save percentage.
