A successful return for Canada’s Farm Show

MELFORT, Sask. – Canada’s Farm Show (CFS) returned after the pandemic to strong sales and good attendance.

The Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) was excited to host the in-person event after a three-year hiatus.

Attendance for the show last week was on par with 2019. For the first time in the show’s history, it was entirely indoors covering over 1.5 million square feet of event space.

REAL VP of Agriculture Kirk Westgard said there were a lot of business transactions with $76 million in international sales. There was also a $100 million investment in the agri-value chain. In addition, there were over 300 international delegates from 50 countries at the show.

“This is incredible. The feedback we got from exhibitors, vendors, delegates, and the public is that they loved the indoor format and what it meant for their ability to talk to customers. They didn’t have to fight wind, rain, and heat which made this show something special when it came to doing business,” Westgard said.

This was the 44th edition of CFS. It is Canada’s largest and longest-running dryland farming show.

A total of 400 exhibitors from across North America came to the show. This includes almost 100 first-time exhibitors.

Degelman Industries celebrated an important milestone at the show. VP of Sales Sheldon Mohr said it was a special way to recognize a special anniversary.

“We’re hear to talk and celebrate with our customers, neighbours, and people that have kept us in business for 60 years,” Mohr said.

It also marked the final show for manager Shirley Janeczko. She started with REAL in 2007 with the Farm Show and was promoted to Farm Show Manager in 2015.

REAL President Tim Reid said Janeczko helped launch the Empowering Women’s Conference, develop a show APP, and pivot to an indoor show during the pandemic. Under her guidance, CFS grew to three days and rebranded as Canada’s Farm Show.

“Shirley is a legend in the ag sector. She will be missed by the exhibitors, customers, and our team. We want to wish her all the best in retirement,” Reid said.

The 2023 Edition of Canada’s Farm Show will be held June 20-22.
