Agriculture Roundup for Wednesday June 8, 2022
MELFORT, Sask. — A Saskatchewan farmer is facing several charges relating to cattle neglect and starvation.
Animal Protection Services of Saskatchewan said 308 animals were seized between Apr. 6 and 8 in the Whitkow area, northwest of Saskatoon.
Executive director Don Ferguson said the owner was provided with a corrective action order to rectify the conditions that were leading the animals to their distress.
He said the conditions were not rectified and on the recommendation of a veterinarian, the cattle were taken into custody and provided with food, water and care.
