RCMP reminding drivers to be extra careful over Halloween weekend

Oct 30, 2021 | 10:00 AM

Saskatchewan RCMP are urging drivers to be extra cautious this Halloween weekend.

Saturday and Sunday will see individuals, most of which will be children, out and about for the spookiest time of the year.

To make sure the scary stories stay fictional, the Mounties are reminding drivers to follow the speed limit, keep their eyes on the road, and don’t drive if impaired.

“Whether it’s going to Halloween activities or trick-or-treating, many vehicles and pedestrians will be on the streets this weekend,” said Grant. St. Germaine, Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Services Supt.

During the Thanksgiving weekend, earlier this month, nearly 1,000 speeding tickets were handed out across the province.

One individual was caught driving near Prince Albert going 180 km/h in a 110 km/h zone.

In total, over 1,200 warnings were issued, 34 individuals were charged for driving impaired, and 49 distracted driving tickets were handed out.

“Our officers will be out on the streets, ensuring everyone has a safe time this Halloween,” St. Germaine added.
