Guns and drugs found during trafficking investigation at Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation

As a result of search warrants being executed at three separate homes at Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation, RCMP seized half a dozen guns, 28 grams of cocaine, and arrested 12 people.
Of those people however, only 57-year-old Sheldon Ahenakew was charged and following a brief appearance Friday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court, was remanded to Monday.
In addition to charges related to guns and drug trafficking, Ahenakew was also charged with failure to comply with a release order condition.
Thursday’s drug trafficking investigation involved the RCMP’s Prince Albert Crime Reduction Unit (CRT), Meadow Lake CRT, Ahtahkakoop RCMP, Emergency Response Team (ERT), Critical Incident Program (CIP).
