P.A. players producing at Rawlings Grand Slam Softball Tournament
Prince Albert’s Troy Preymack did something not a whole lot of players can say they did, outduel Softball Canada ace Riley Manion.
Preymack and his Delisle Pride defeated Manion’s Owen Sound Selects from Ontario 2-1 in a close one on Thursday to start their 2021 Rawlings Grand Slam Softball Championship in Saskatoon. The Selects also featured Owen Torrie and Dallas Kipfer, who like Manion were on the Canadian team that hosted the 2018 WBSC Junior Men’s Softball World Championships in Prince Albert.
Preymack threw a complete game, scattering three hits, while striking out six batters. The lone run he gave up came in the third inning. Prince Albert’s Ryan Bicknell had a hit in the game against Manion, and was credited with two quality at bats.
The Pride also defeated the Pimicikamak Thunder from Manitoba 9-0 on Thursday. They will play the Tavistock Merchants from Ontario Friday afternoon and the Peguis Redmen from Manitoba on Saturday morning for their next games.
