244 new COVID-19 cases, four deaths, 190 recoveries

There were 244 new COVID-19 cases reported on Saturday, bringing the active case count in the province to 1,950.

Four more Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. Two deaths were reported in the 70-79 age group from the Saskatoon zone, one death was reported in the 80+ age group from the Central East zone, and one death was reported in the 80+ age group from the North West zone.

In the province’s north, 30 new cases were reported in the North West, while 18 were reported in the North Central and eight in the North East. The new cases for the rest of the province are as follows: Far North West had 23, Far North Central (nine), Far Saskatoon (66), Central West (6), Central East (14), Regina (55), South West (one), South Central (one) and South East (5) zones. Two cases are pending resident information.

To date 26,389 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Saskatchewan, 24,085 of those individuals have now recovered.

There are 187 people in hospital. One hundred and sixty-seven (167) people are receiving inpatient care: Far North West (two), Far North East (two), North West (19), North Central (22), North East (three), Saskatoon (55), Central West (one), Central East (11), Regina (44), South West (one), and South East (seven). Twenty people are in intensive care: North West (one), North Central (two), Saskatoon (eight), Central East (two), and Regina (seven).

There were 3,157 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Feb. 12.

To date, 541,244 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan. As of Feb. 11, when other provincial and national numbers were available, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 455,740 tests performed per million population. The national rate was 602,103 tests performed per million population.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 167 (13.7 new cases per 100,000 population) and is now available on the Government of Saskatchewan website. Here is the dashboard.

Vaccines

There were 1,691 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered yesterday in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 48,566. With this, 104 per cent of the doses received have been administered to date. This overage is due to efficiencies in drawing extra doses from vials of vaccine received.

Central East has reported an additional 32 doses and South East has reported an additional 28 doses administered on February 10. On February 11, Central East administered an additional 7 doses, and South East administered 20 additional doses.

The 1691 doses were administered in the following zones: Far North West (118), Far North Central (31), North East (450), North Central (1061), Central West (6) and Saskatoon (25).

If you’re sharing cards, set them aside for 24 hours before handling.

NITHA numbers

There are 259 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central/Athabasca (42), Far North West (56), Far North East (89), North Central (10), and North East (62). Ninety per cent of the 2,521 of cases to date have recovered. Four people are currently in hospital.
