Visitor limitations following COVID-19 cases in Northeast lifted

​​​The Sas​katchewan Health Authority is easing the visitor limitation in hospitals in Melfort, Tisdale and Nipawin and also at community long term care facilities including Pineview Lodge in Nipawin, Parkland Place in Melfort and New Market Place in Tisdale. The visitor limitation which were placed on July 29 because of COVID positive cases in the RM of Star City.

The decision was made by the Medical Health Officer, Dr. Moha​mmad Khan as there have been no new positive cases of COVID in the RM of Star City 28 days after the last positive case was reported.

The incubation period of COVID virus is 14 days; usually 28 days or two incubation period time of COVID is considered a safe period before lifting restrictions.

The decision means that th​ose facilities will now follow the same policy as others across the province:

  • Two family mem​​bers or support persons can be identified to support patients and residents.
  • Only one fa​mily member or support person can be present in the facility at a time.
  • Two people can be present at one tim​e if physical distancing can be maintained for:
    • Critical care/inte​​nsive care patients
    • End of life/pallia​​tive care patients or residents
    • Maternal Services U​​nits (Maternal and Postpartum Units, Neonatal Intensive Care Units, Pediatric Intensive Care Units, Pediatric Units)
  • ​Additional family members or support persons may be identified for end of life, palliative and intensive/critical care, as outlined in the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) Family Presence Guidelines​.

COVID-19 Te​sting

SHA is encou​raging all provincial residents to seek testing if you are experiencing symptoms and is reminding everyone that testing is available for anyone who currently works outside the home and is being admitted to acute care for more than 24 hours, including expectant mothers and individuals who are immunocompromised.

If you are experiencing sym​ptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath, headaches, aches and pains, sore throat, chills, runny nose or a loss of your sense of taste or smell, contact HealthLine 811, a nurse practitioner or your family physician for advice on whether you should be tested for COVID-19.
