Raiders Camp: Day 1

Game 1: McAmmond vs. Hartnell

Team McAmmond got out to a 3-0 lead early. Brady Filmon had a great assist on the first goal with a cross-crease pass for Chase Fedoriuk, and he buried the wrist shot. Returning Raider Ben Harvey scored the second one on a wrist shot five-hole, and Filmon scored the third goal by banking a pass in off a defender.

Before the end of the first period, Team Hartnell got on the board with a wrist shot from Sam Brenner, a 2026 fourth round pick.

In the second period, another returning Raider Alisher Sarkenov tipped in a shot to give Team McAmmond a 4-1 lead.

Team Hartnell started a comeback, though, when 2024 third round pick Kyle Obobaifo blocked a shot at the blueline, then sped away on the breakaway before finishing with a nice move in close. Shortly after, the new Latvian-born defenceman Oskars Luks rifled a wrist shot in from the point to make it 4-3.

Then came the halfway mark of the second period, a flood, a chance for both teams to get a few strategy notes in the dressing room, and a goaltender change when both teams returned to the ice. The second half of the period ended without a goal.

In the third, Team McAmmond ran away. Malaki Martin, who was called up for three games with the Raiders last year and tied for second in SMAAAHL scoring last year, scored to make it 5-3. Then a wrist shot from Ryan Richter found its way in, and Alisher Sarkenov scored his second of the game to finish a net-front battle.

GAME 1 FINAL: McAmmond 7 – 3 Hartnell

For Team McAmmond, Brady Holtvogt was in for the first half of the game and allowed three goals, while Haize Brightnose shut the door for the second half.

For Team Hartnell, Ethan Radke started the game and allowed four goals, while Evan Wandler played a perfect half period before letting in three in the third.

Game 2: Modano vs. Protas

The second game of the day took all the way until the final minute of the period before a goal was scored, and it was Team Protas in green that used the powerplay to do it. A tic-tac-toe play finished by 2025 11th round pick Noah Ulry on the doorstep.

In the second period, Team Modano took over. First, camp invite Brendyn Van Oene received a drop pass in the rush, then fired from the slot. Shortly after, American invitee Easton Gonsorowski skated in tight on the rush and managed to sneak his shot through, and finally returning Raider Connor Howe scored on a wrist shot from the left circle to make it 3-1 before the halfway mark flood.

After the flood and goalie change, Team Modano extended the lead when Gonsorowski scored his second goal of the game on a rebound pinballing around the slot.

Then Team Protas started to come back when one of the two 20-year-olds invited to camp, former Minto Logan Pickford, lifted the stick of a defender in front to take the puck away, then buried it before the goaltender could react.

In the third period, Team Protas continued to rumble back with goals from last year’s Mintos captain Liam Myhre, who batted in a rebound, and Carter Hope, who took the puck away on a breakaway and tied the game.

It took a three-round shootout to decide it, and Pickford scored in the third round to seal the comeback for Team Protas. McCagherty and Jonah Sivertson had the other two goals for Team Protas, while Brock Cripps and Connor Howe both scored for Team Modano, and Owen Corkish was the third shooter.

GAME 2 FINAL (SO): Protas 5 – 4 Modano

In goal for Team Protas, returning goaltender Steele Bass allowed the first three goals of the game in the first half, while camp invitee Karson Varty allowed just one.

For Team Modano, Chase Kettles let in one goal early before shutting things down for the rest of his ice time, while Cash Borowski was in goal for the other three goals and the shootout.
