UPDATED: Police gazebo fire deemed accidental

Prince Albert Police confirmed that the blaze that destroyed a gazebo in the parking lot of their station was an accident.

A thorough investigation deemed the fire to be accidental following a comprehensive review of available evidence, including via CCTV footage from the building and surrounding area, as well as through a fire investigator from the Prince Albert Fire Department.

Prince Albert police are asking for public help identifying who may have set a wooden gazebo next to the police station on fire Sunday afternoon. 

The fire started at about 4 p.m., and officers responded along with Prince Albert Fire Department crews. 

The fire was extinguished, but the investigation into who set it remains ongoing. 

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to contact the Prince Albert Police Service at 306-953-4222.
