Gymnasts flip out at Prince Albert Aerials Invitational

Mar 2, 2025 | 5:05 PM

Nearly 200 youth gymnasts crowded the gymnastics centre in Prince Albert over the weekend for the annual Aerials Invitational meet.

Nine clubs from around the province made the trip to compete in four total events, including beam, bars, floor, and vault. Participants also competed for an overall score based on how they placed in the other events.

Angela Reinbrecht is President of the P.A. Aerials Gymnastics board and said this event helps some of the competing athletes qualify for the provincial championships in Regina over Mother’s Day weekend.

“You have to attend three meets in a year, and you have to make qualifying score at two of them for provincials,” she explained.

She added that the eight other clubs who travelled to compete include Calico (Humboldt), Can-Am (Saskatoon), Finding Grace (Clavet), Meadow Lake, Nipawin, Rosetown, Tisdale, and Valley (Waldheim).

For Prince Albert, Reinbrecht said this year’s group has performed well not just at their own meet this weekend, but over the course of the season too.

“Our athletes do really well at all of the competitions. Out of the three groups that competed [on Friday], two of our athletes took [in] all-around. We’re just trying to build athletes who are proud of themselves, work hard. and are good team players.”

The meet began Friday evening and wrapped up Sunday afternoon. A list of the final standings can be found here.
