Two individuals charged as investigation concluded in Montreal Lake assaults

Waskesiu and Montreal Lake RCMP have concluded their investigation into several assaults that took place on the Montreal Lake Cree Nation on April 6.

A man allegedly assaulted two people in separate incidents. One suffered non-life-threatening injuries and the other was not injured.

Further investigation found that a woman sprayed bear mace at a third person.

Investigators found the man and woman at a home on Montreal Lake Cree Nation and with the help of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team, they were both arrested without incident.

During a search of the home, officers found and seized bear mace, a BB gun and an imitation assault rifle.

Xavier Smith, 22, of Montreal Lake is charged with:

  • two counts, assault with a weapon;
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • one count, administer noxious thing;
  • four counts, fail to comply with probation order;
  • one count, possession of a weapon while prohibited.

Smith will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on April 13.

Natash Fontaine (2002-07-07) of Prince Albert is charged with:

  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • one count, assault with a weapon;
  • one count, administer noxious thing.

Fontaine made an appearance in Prince Albert Provincial court Tuesday morning.
