Restrictions lifted at all city owned facilities

The City of Prince Albert will be following the implementation of stage three of Saskatchewan’s re-open plan.

“In accordance to Sask. Health removing their health orders, all city facilities including city hall will return to regular capacity at 8 a.m. on July 12, 2021,” Jim Toye, Prince Albert’s city manager told paNOW.

Restrictions including mask wearing and a two metre distance will be lifted at all city owned facilities and public facilities including city busses.

Toye added there will still be hand sanitizer stations at city hall but other precautions such as stations and temperature checks will be discontinued.

City council meetings will still be streamed online for residents to view there. Options for viewing in person will be finalized Monday morning and will be released by the city then.

While the city is discontinuing mask wearing at public facilities, city councillors may still have to wear masks during meetings in the chamber.

“That’s a decision we are going to have to make on Monday,” Toye said. “We did look at some different alternatives. We are talking to some other communities and cities to see what they are doing, so we are doing some background work.”

Although mask wearing will not be required at city owned facilities beginning on July 12, city staff can choose to continue to wear them.

“Any city employee can choose to continue to wear their face mask and maintain two metres of physical distancing if they wish,” Toye said. “It’s their choice.”

The discontinuation of guidelines beginning next week will be in effect at the EA Rawlinson Centre for the Arts as they are a city owned facility.

“We follow what the city says, and the city follows what the Saskatchewan Health Authority has instructed, so as of Monday masks are not required to be worn inside,” Cara Stelmaschuk, marketing and events coordinator told paNOW.

“We will be able to sell all our seats for Clue,” Stelmaschuk added. “There are no spacing or mask wearing requirements in affect anymore.”

The production Clue will run from Aug. 20 to 28. Tickets can be found online at the EA Rawlinson website.
