With the majority of the votes counted, Sask. Party candidate Alana Ross has a 222-vote lead over incumbent Nicole Rancourt of the NDP, but we will have to wait for the final result in Prince Albert Northcote.

Elections Saskatchewan will not start counting mail-in ballots until Wednesday. Vote by mail ballots were issued to 568 people in Prince Albert Northcote, although there is no guarantee all of them voted.

If Ross wins in Prince Albert Northcote it will be the third time in three elections the riding has changed hands. Both Rancourt and Ross told paNOW they expected the race to be tight.

Speaking after polls closed on Monday night, Ross said she was happy with the results so far.

“It’s quite amazing I have a team that worked so very hard,” she said. “It’s close and I’m very pleased.”

Meanwhile Rancourt said waiting will be difficult.

“I’m disappointed with the results and sitting in limbo,” Rancourt said. “But we’ll wait and see and I respect whatever decision the voters made.”

With advance voting, election day and personal care facilities all counted, Alana Ross of the Sask. Party has 2,393 votes. Nicole Rancourt of the NDP has 2,171. Jaret Nikolaisen of the Progressive Conservatives has 213 votes, while Sarah Kraynick of the Green Party has 101.
