The Prince Albert Kinsmen Club are marking the organization’s National Day of Kindness.

Friday afternoon at the Indian Métis Friendship Centre the club’s members provided a meal to some of the centre’s clients. Kinsmen’s Brad Amy said the organization feels serving a meal is a good way to help the community.

“What better way, than feeding people and giving them something warm and … maybe make their day a little bit better,” he said.

The club was able to get the food for the meal from Harold’s Family Foods owned by a club member.

Amy explained the club will also be visiting the Victoria Hospital Saturday, where they will hand out food and plug parking meters for people. Amy added the local Kinettes club is also taking part in the day.

Janet Carriere, executive director at the friendship centre said having the Kinsmen club come serve a meal at the centre is a first for the organization as it is the first time a non-Indigenous club has done so. She added having a non-Indigenous come to the centre is important.

“It’s huge, it’s huge for our community, it’s huge for our people and it’s huge for the relationships we’re trying to build in the community,” she said.
