E.A. Rawlinson Centre presents an eerie story for a cause

Oct 24, 2019 | 2:21 PM

The E.A. Rawlinson Centre for the Arts and Spark Theatre will be presenting a spooky story this Halloween season.

The Woman In Black, based on a novel by Susan Hill that was written in 1983 will be showing at the centre on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Stephen Mallatratt wrote and adapted the book into a stage play.

Cara Stelmaschuk, the director of the show, describes it as a well-known play.

“People who like a really well-crafted story that you know throws you for a few loops and gets you invested into the plot. That’s the kind of show this one is,” Stelmaschuk said.

The Woman In Black is a four-person all Prince Albert cast carried by the two male leads Dan Luesink and Warren Haley.

“They have put in an enormous amount of work because when it’s a full two-hour play and you only have two people that really speak pretty much the whole thing,” Stelmaschuk said.

The show also includes Emma Anderson and Michelle McColm.

“I’m really proud, everything this team has done from our stage manager to our designers to our performers it’s been a real all-star kind of group,” Stelmaschuk said.

The Prince Albert Canadian Tire will match every ticket sold for all three shows and will donate to the Rose Garden Hospice.

“Malcolm Jenkins has always been a huge supporter of the arts,” Stelmaschuk said. “He’s very excited to help us. He wants our shows to do well he wants audience growth and he wants people coming here for theatre. If he can also support a great cause like the Rose Garden Hospice then that’s even better.”

Tickets can be bought at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre or on their website.

“The special thing about theatre is that this show is only going to happen three times you can’t put it off and say, ‘Yeah yeah I’ll get around to it.’ It’s a special thing,” she said.
