Pre-trial matters in P.A. murder case scheduled for next year

The family of Kristopher Charles will have to wait until next spring to find out if the murder case will go to trial.

At separate hearings on Thursday at Prince Albert Provincial Court, preliminary hearing dates were set for a woman and three of the four men charged in connection to the death of Charles last March. Lindsay Henderson, Raymond Bear, Emilio Bouvier, and Keegan Eagle have all been charged with first-degree murder.

The preliminary hearings, which have been scheduled for the final week in April, 2020, will weigh the Crown’s evidence, to see if it is strong enough to proceed to trial.

Ernest Okemaysim was also charged with first-degree murder but does not have a lawyer at this time. It’s expected his matters will also be adjourned to April, when he is back in court next week.

Charles, 22, died in hospital March 22, following an incident at Rivercrest Apartments in downtown Prince Albert. Police confirmed at the time of the initial arrests that the deceased and the suspects knew each other.
