The Prince Albert Police Service is investigating the city’s fourth homicide of 2019, and the second at the same downtown apartment building in less than three days.

Friday afternoon, officers were called to Rivercrest Apartments for a complaint of an assault in progress.

Once on scene, the officers located a 22-year-old man in critical condition. The man was transported to the Victoria Union Hospital by ambulance where he was later pronounced deceased.

The police service has confirmed arrests have been made in connection to this death and have also said the deceased and the suspects are known to each other. An autopsy has been scheduled to take place sometime next week.

Police were called to the same apartment building two days earlier in response to an unconscious infant. The two year old boy later died in hospital. Police have said the two homicide investigations do not appear to be related.
