Reel Rave returns for 12th annual festival

Sep 11, 2015 | 11:55 AM

A unique film festival held every summer in northern Saskatchewan returns this weekend.

The 12th annual Reel Rave International Film Festival begins Friday evening in Waskesiu.

Committee member Amy Hadley said the festival will be showing films received through the Toronto Film Festival circuit.

“They have an outreach circuit for smaller venues,” said Hadley, “and so we have 6 award-winning movies. It’s a beautiful weekend. “

Some of those films include Learning to Drive and Canadian documentary All the Time in the World.

Hadley said it’s always an exciting weekend.

“It’s only grown each and every year,” said Hadley. “It’s a great weekend, the weekend after the long weekend every year, in beautiful Waskesiu.”

Festival tickets are $12 per film. Advance tickets are $30 for 3 films, and are available only until the box office closes Friday night.

There will also be a Saturday evening social at the Hawood Inn, which includes food, entertainment, and movie discussions.
