Will Palin Pale in Time?

Feb 11, 2011 | 5:29 AM

Sarah Palin’s ignorance scares me. Her lack of knowledge of foreign affairs is really scary if you believe she has any chance at all of becoming president in 2012.

Consider this statement in response being asked if she thought President Obama was handling the Egyptian issue well:

“And nobody yet, and nobody yet has explained to the American public what they know and surely they know more than the rest of us know who it is who will be taking the place of Mubarak and no, not, not real enthused about what it is that’s being done on a national level and from DC in regards to understanding all the situation there in Egypt. And in these areas that are so volatile right now, because obviously it is not just Egypt, but other countries too where we are seeing uprisings, we know now more than ever, we need strength and sound mind there in the White House. We need to know what it is that America stands for, so we will know who it is America will stand with. And we do not have all that information yet”.

I think I know more or less what she is saying: that President Obama has not yet shared all the information Palin thinks Americans need, in order to understand the level of involvement of the American government in the affairs of Egypt, nor who Obama will back as a successor to Mubarak.

She is a shining example of my belief that English grammar is not being taught as it should be and soon we won’t understand much of what is being said to us. We shouldn’t have to translate other people’s

English into English and take a chance by thinking we know what was meant by what they said.

Palin is ‘real cute’ and ‘down homesy’ and that is appealing to many Americans, but she has such ignorance of all the subjects a president must know and understand. Does she know Canadians; does she understand Russian politics, even though she can see the Yukon and Russia from her house?

Do you think she has a chance of being the Republican candidate? Do you think she can
beat Obama? Do you think her incomprehensible speeches can be corrected by a crash course in English grammar? If her speech is so careless and its meaning so unclear, is it dangerous now, and more so if she were president? Do you think she can be elected to be President of the United States?

How scary is she from your point of view?
