Saskatchewan Author and Local Singer Open at PA Tourist Centre

Saskatchewan's Bucket List Author Comes to Prince Albert Tourism Centre

Author and travel journalist D. Grant Black will be at the Prince Albert Tourism Bureau on Saturday, December 11 (Noon –5 p.m.) to sign his2009 Tourism Saskatchewan Travel Media Award-winning, best-selling “Saskatchewan Book of Musts: The 101 Places Every Saskatchewanian Must See.”

This 150-page guidebook, with 101 “MUST places to see“ in Saskatchewan, is broken up into Saskatoon, Regina and five regions. Black's “Saskatchewan bucket list” includes a mix of rural and urban, from the Cypress Hills Vineyard & Winery and the Great Sands Hills to the Bessborough Hotel and Mosaic Stadium, home of the Riders.

Black's bucket list choices in the Prince Albert region include the E. A. Rawlinson Centre, a canoe trip to Grey Owl’s cabin, Waskesiu, the Crooked Trees of Alticane and Birch Hill's New Ground Café.

Seasoned Flatlander celebrities such as Prince Albert actress-singer Andrea Menard, Saskatchewan Roughrider Gene Makowsky, musical duo Little Miss Higgins and radio host John Gormley, also weigh in with their own “Must” lists. Author David Carpenter includes Amy's On Second Restaurant in his “A Writer's Five Ways to Survive a Saskatchewan Winter.”

Due to the success of the bucket list book, Black won the 2009 Tourism Saskatchewan Travel Media Award in March and in November he was a national finalist for the TIAC (Tourism Industry Association of Canada) Travel Media Award at the National Awards of Excellence in Gatineau, Quebec. 

Books will be available for sale at $13.95 each (makes a great Christmas gift) so come out and meet the author.
