Rivier Academy – A Little History

Oct 28, 2010 | 10:42 AM

Rivier Academy is a Catholic Independent Historical High School with associate status with Prince Albert Roman Catholic Separate School Division #6. Rivier provides education for girls as residents in Grade 10-12 and as day students from Grade 7 through 12.  It was opened in 1976 by the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary.  We are indebted to the faculties of Academy Presentation of Mary and the Sion Academy who established the sound academic tradition in 1904 for the present institution.

ANNE MARIE RIVIER, after whom the school is named, is the foundress of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary. Her principal apostolic service was teaching youth, with special emphasis on the education of the faith.  Our school recognizes each person as a gift of God with great potential.  Our specific goal is to give not only a sound academic training but a complete human and Christian formation which will empower the students to become contributing, responsible members of Church and Society.
