Coach Miller talks honest with Roughrider captains

The Saskatchewan Roughriders returned to practice Wednesday, but they didn’t have to battle the elements when their practice was moved into the Credit Union Eventplex in Regina.

It was the first time they took the field after meetings took place between the captains and head coach Ken Miller.

The meetings were a chance for both sides to air out any concerns that may be floating around and to try and figure out what's been plaguing the team.

Quarterback Darian Durant said the meetings were productive.

“If there were any concerns about anything we let it all out,” said Durant.

“We let coach know what we thought. He asked if there was anything he needs to do, or not do, and we talked about that. I just think the main thing is that everything got out in the open.”

Mike McCullough said the talks were real honest.

“Coach (Miller) is real good at communication,” he said.

“He opens the door for us to talk to him. He wants to make sure that we're getting everything from him that we need and vice versa.

“I think the talks went very well and hopefully we can turn it around this week,” said McCullough.

Miller said it was a good idea for everyone to get together and have their voices heard.

“It was an opportunity for the players to demonstrate their character and leadership,” said Miller.

“I think those are the positive things that came out of the meetings we had. The agenda was primarily about communication and letting them know that communication is not just one way,” he said.
