A father in Prince Albert had his child stolen, along with his truck Tuesday night.

According to police, a vehicle, which was left running, was stolen, from the Co – Op gas station on Second Avenue West.

It happened around 6 p.m. after the owner of the 1993 Ford Explorer had gone inside to ask for a tire gauge.

“He estimates he was not gone for more than three minutes, came back out and his vehicle was gone — along with his three-year-old son who had been in the back of the vehicle,” said Staff Sergeant Bill Chow.

“He looked like he was going to lose it,” said Jennifer Bear, who was working at the gas station at the time.

“We didn’t see anything because he parked along the side of the building,” said Bear.

The child was let out of the vehicle in the 500-block of 15th Street West.

A local resident found the child wandering and took them into their house before calling police, said Chow.

The father and son were reunited after about 40 minutes.

Police said the vehicle was found shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday.

No arrests have been made.

Meantime police are hoping this incident serves as a reminder to others.

“Don’t leave your vehicles unattended and don’t leave your children unattended in a motor vehicle,” Chow said.
