MP Brad Trost stays mum about PotashCorp deal

Oct 26, 2010 | 6:34 PM

Saskatoon-Humboldt MP Brad Trost is justifying his silence regarding the proposed hostile takeover of PotashCorp on Tuesday.

“The Investment Canada Act basically forbids people like me, why I’m not totally sure, from commenting or influencing because it’s got to be done proper(ly),” Trost told News Talk Radio.

“The second thing I’m advised is that if we don’t do this right, it can be challenged in court and overturned.”

Even though Trost won’t reveal his personal thoughts on the proposed takeover, he is actively seeking the opinions of others. He’s even resorting to cornering people in fast food restaurants and enlisting the help of former municipal politicians.
