In his address to the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations Fall Assembly – an angry chief Guy Lonechild took a shot at politicians, questioning the money chiefs make.
“Certainly we do without members of parliament may do. After six years for example if you are elected into the members of parliament you get a full life pension. Our chiefs do without pensions. Our own Canadian government, how dare they,” said Lonechild.
He says the average chief in Saskatchewan makes 40 to 60 thousand dollars a year.
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation recently released a study which claims the highest paid chiefs in Canada make more than the average premier's salary.
