More than 200 people volunteers from all over the Davidson-area braved a chilly Saturday to search on foot, on all terrain vehicle and even on horseback for missing Bladworth man Rob Vicente.
“We're just doing what we can do and we've got to find Rob — ultimately that's our goal. Anything that we happen to stumble along to help the police along the way, then right on,” said Barkley Prpick, a long-time family friend who helped organize the search.
The search started with the location of where Vicente's burnt-out car was found about 30 kilometres west of Davidson to begin with, and headed west from there. Volunteers were looking for anything that would link them to the missing man.
“Whether it be a hat or a chunk of clothing. Whatever we can find that can lead us to him,” Prpick said.
Prpick has known Vicente since they were young.
“He's a great kid,” he said. “The humor that he brought to any function was unbelievable.”
Speaking with News Talk Radio on Wedesday, Pam Vicente said the last time she saw her 25-year-old son was on Oct. 9, when he left her house after watching a Saskatchewan Roughrider game to head back to Davidson where he lived and worked.
The next thing she heard was a few days later when Vicente's car was found burnt-out west of Davidson.
People in the community have been scouring in and around Davidson, Bladworth and Craik for the past week, hoping to find any clue that would lead them to Roberto.
RCMP searched a home in Davidson on Thursday they believed to be related to the case, but would not confirmed what exactly it is they were looking for, or how long the search would last.
