Paddockwood man pens Stompin’ Tom inspired birthday song to Canada

Shortly before Stompin’ Tom Connors death, he wrote a letter to his fans that called on them to “keep the maple leaf flying high” and to “be the patriot Canada needs now and in the future.”

And this call to arms can be seen in Elmer Lammedee. He believes, if alive, Stompin’ Tom’s love of Canada would have led the folk legend to write a song about it on its 150 birthday.

“I thought, ‘Well if he can’t do it, then it is up to me,’” the Paddockwood man who has played tribute to the Canadian music icon for nearly 40 years, said.
