“Play It Forward’ Sports Equipment Collection Day will be Saturday, October 14 fro 9:00 am – 6:00 pm at Lakeland Ford, Gene’s Cycle and Sports & Source for Sports.
Local businesses and community groups are coming together to help local financially disadvantaged kids get the sports equipment they need to play organized sports.
KidSport Prince Albert has identified equipment costs as a large barrier to financially disadvantaged kid’s participation in sport. To help lighten the costs for families, KidSport Prince Albert along with S.H.A.R.E. have set-up the first ever sports equipment collection and distribution system called Play It Forward.
The Lakeland Ford dealership has gotten behind the cause and offered to be one of the permanent collection points in the city. The Play It Forward slogan and logo was created by Lakeland Ford . The dealership will also underwrite some of the expenses associated with the new system. Gene’s Sports and Source for Sports, and City of Prince Albert have also volunteered to be key participants in Play It Forward.
To kick-off the Play It Forward sports equipment collection system, the public is asked to bringing sports equipment to Lakeland Ford, Gene’s Sports, or Source For Sports during regular business hours Saturday, October 14th. The items most in need by local children is all sizes and types of hockey equipment, skates, soccer shin guards, cleats, helmets, and lacrosse equipment. All other sports equipment and used uniforms will be accepted and redistributed as well. Cash donation can be made on the KidSport website.
