Microderm helps with aging because it buffs out the little lines and wrinkles, thereby reducing their appearance. It also gives back that youthful healthy glow.

Microderm helps pigment problems like pregnancy mask, age spots, and sun spots. It reduces these color irregularities and gives a more even skin tone.

What Microderm does not help – Rosacea, facial redness, sensitivity, and broken capillaries. All forms of exfoliation should be avoided with these skin conditions. Remember, if it’s red, it doesn’t get better with scrubbing. It gets worse. Never try to scrub away redness. Ever.

I like dustless Microderm. There are other, older Microderm machines that sand blast the skin. They blow a grit on to the skin and then they suck it back up with the dead skin cells. Sometimes people react to the grit. These machines are more aggressive than dustless Microderm. Skin can get red, sensitive, and can peel.

Dustless Microderm has the grit imbedded on the instrument. The grit is sometimes made of diamonds. These machines are often called Diamond Peel.

The very first Microdermabrasion was in the late 1800s. A rotating wire brush was applied to the skin. Just think about that for a minute. Yikes.
Now there are all kinds of variety of Microderm. Many don’t use suction anymore and I think that’s a sad loss. Think about never vacuuming your carpet again. Yikes again.

Remember, Microderm doesn’t need to hurt to help. In fact, the less rough it is, the more it helps. Skin needs to be treated like an antique silk, not like a rude drunk in a bar.
