Microdermabrasion helps acne and more

Oct 17, 2012 | 9:58 AM

Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical and non-chemical way of exfoliating the skin. It is used on the face for anti aging or to reduce hyperpigmentation or sun damage. It is also very useful for oily skin, acne, blackheads, acne scarring and enlarged pores.

Traditional microderm mimics sandblasting. A grit is blown on to the face and then suctioned off. Sometimes sand particles can remain on lips or eyelids. On occasion people can have a reaction to the grit.

Dustless microderm uses suction with the grit imbedded on the tool. It’s best described as a face- grade or skin-grade sandpaper combined with a vacuum cleaner. This eliminates the possibility of grit getting left behind and there’s no chance of having a reaction. This is the preferred form of microderm.

Everyone wants youthful glowing skin that is clear and smooth. Both men and women want to look their best whether they are 15 or 50. With microderm, the complexion feels smooth and soft to the touch. Fine lines are reduced. Brown spots are less noticeable. Circulation is increased to give that youthful healthy glow. Pores are cleaned out and people experience a reduction in break outs and oiliness.

Although microderm benefits acne, it is not for everyone. It should not be used on rosacea or on couperose skin (broken capillaries). It should also be avoided if skin is inflamed or irritated.
Microderm is pure magic when followed immediately by cold laser.
