Trouble with the Curve

Sep 25, 2012 | 7:30 AM

This is a very likeable movie that delivers a powerhouse cast. Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake are in the starring roles. Eastwood is really showing his age in this movie, which is very fitting considering that his character is also coming to terms with his old age. Amy Adams plays his daughter, and Justin Timberlake is a young rookie scout who has his eye on Adams.

If you come to the theatre expecting a baseball movie you will be disappointed. You are better off renting “Major League.” The baseball games provide more of a backdrop for the relationship between Eastwood and Adams. As I mentioned above, Eastwood is a stubborn old baseball scout who is losing his sight, and coming to grips with the knowledge that his best years are behind him. Adams, who is a hot shot lawyer, comes to help her dad on his last recruiting mission. As you can probably imagine a relationship begins to form with Timberlake's and Adams's characters.

I didn't hate this movie but I'm not sure if it’s one I'd watch again. There are lots of good one- liners and all the actors deliver pretty solid performances. I just found the plot to be as predictable as it is flat.
