Take a Walk on Main Street

Dec 8, 2011 | 7:13 AM

This Saturday, December 10th, 2011 from noon until 7 p.m., the businesses on the 1200 block of Central Avenue will be hosting a block party.

Everybody’s Invited!

Come and check out Sentiments Floral, Calypso Bay, Bocian Jewelers, Bison Café, Wilcox Zuk Chovin Law Office, Treasures in White, Stacy D’s Antiques, and Mind Over Matter.

Each of these unique businesses will be holding an open house, allowing customers to shop late, find great sales, and enter a draw for some amazing prizes. Select businesses will also be offering sales of up to 50% off and other perks such as gift wrapping.

On the street, you’ll take in the sights, sounds, and smells of Christmas.

Father Christmas will be making an appearance, as well as local groups of carolers and fire dancers. If you feel a slight nip in the air, please feel free to duck into one of the open stores or gather around the open fire while drinking hot chocolate or roasting marshmallows.

Join us for some old fashioned fun, and celebrate Christmas in Downtown Prince Albert!

As another Christmas initiative, these and other businesses are taking it upon themselves to spruce up the street with Christmas lights.

The trees along the 1200 block of Central avenue will be decked with strings of Solar Powered, LED lights.

This is a pilot project that will not only make the trees sparkle with tiny white lights, but do it in a way that is incredibly environmentally friendly.

These lights are a fairly new technology that we are very optimistic about. We hope they will have good longevity while not consuming even one watt of electricity.

If successful, it is likely Prince Albert’s downtown will see this lighting project expand in future years with the cooperation of the businesses and property owners in the Downtown Core.
