Lakeland snags two golds; Rivers West wins 4 medals in snowboard boardercross

The final day of snowboarding at the 2018 Saskatchewan Winter Games featured the ever-exciting boardercross races, where Team Lakeland captured two of the four gold medals handed out, and Rivers West won the most medals with four.

Rivers West sweeps male medals in snowboarding

Rivers West continued their supremacy on the slopes on Friday at the Saskatchewan Winter Games.

In the snowboarding slopestyle, Rivers West swept all six of the medals for both of the male competitions. They had five medals in the same event on Thursday.

Defence expected to make opening statement today in Stanley Trial

Defence lawyer Scott Spencer is expected to deliver his opening address to the jury this morning in the ongoing murder trial of Gerald Stanley.

Stanley trial begins Monday

Monday, the jury will be selected for the high-profile trial of Gerald Stanley.

Stanley is facing a second-degree murder charge related to the fatal shooting of Colten Boushie, 22, in August 2016 on his farm near Biggar.

A woman is now facing charges related to Saturday's shooting incident on 15 Avenue in North Battleford. 

Amanda Wahobin, 28, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime.

Miracle Treat Day returns this week

The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group and Dairy Queen Canada are inviting Saskatchewan residents to join in on Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen locations across the province on Aug. 10.

Net proceeds from each Blizzard sold will be donated to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.
