Two facing manslaughter charges in connection with March homicide

Prince Albert police have made two arrests in a homicide dating back to March.
Christian Charles, 21, and Austin Janvier, 23, were both arrested yesterday and charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of 34-year-old Damien Ballantyne. The homicide victim was found unresponsive in a home on Ninth St. March 22, police said, and succumbed to his injuries before he could be taken to hospital.
Charles and Janvier were both arrested early in the investigation as suspects but were later released, police spokesperson Sgt. Travis Willie said. Both men are jointly charged, and made their first appearance today in Prince Albert Provincial Courts.
The charges against the pair have not been tested before the courts, and they are presumed innocent at this stage.
