UPDATE: Police identify victim in first homicide of 2017

UPDATE: After autopsy, the victim has been identified as 34-year-old Damian Ballantyne. Police can confirm the two suspects in custody were known to the victim.

Two suspects are in custody after an early-morning homicide in Prince Albert, the city’s first murder of 2017.

Prince Albert Police officers responded to a call to a home in the 300 block of 9th St. E. shortly after 1 a.m. this morning to assist Parkland Ambulance paramedics with an unresponsive male. Patrol members attended the scene, but the 34-year-old male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Police report two suspects are already in custody, and an investigation is currently underway by the Criminal Investigation Division and the Forensic Identification Unit. More information is expected to be relased as the investigation progresses.
